In today’s world, the actions of a few people can have global consequences and irreversible effects on our environment, our health and our ability to make conscientious choices regarding peace, plenitude and sustainability.
Rational Data’s mission is anchored by the notion that individuals possess certain “existential rights,” or rights that follow inherently from their very existence. These rights include:
· Informed consent (decision making based on unencumbered and accurate information)
· Self-determination (choosing action), and
· Self-emancipation (transformational change in consciousness and situation)This concept of existential rights calls for a careful, sensitive balance between the rights of the individual and those of the species. In a world that honors existential rights, decisions with the potential for widespread consequence should be made in harmony with the well-being of individuals, the human species and the environment at large—all while taking into account the growing need for long-term sustainability.
Driven by its mission, Rational Data, building on a virtual global village idea, has integrated within the i Platform and Network model the possibility of extending existential rights to people from a wide range of geopolitical backgrounds. In ways both subtle and direct, we believe the i Platform and network model has the potential to revolutionize how we obtain information, communicate with others, and, potentially, make choices, both as individuals and as a society.
Our vision is simple, yet powerful. We believe that the more efficiently we can make sense of information, the better we can function as individuals and as a society. Being fully informed gives us the opportunity to make better choices as individuals and as a community which helps all of us build viable paths to action.
It’s our hope that our networking tools, collaborative spaces, social giving networks, project networks, and action networks will become vital catalysts to global sustainability and plenitude.
